Between The Cracks - Week 1

I could have jumped for joy when I saw the new blog meme Between The Cracks created by Shaz over at Jera's Jamboree mentioned on Twitter. With well over 1800 books on my To Be Read shelf over on Goodreads this seemed like the perfect meme for me.

The idea behind Between The Cracks is that you will identify & share books that have been languishing on your to read shelf. You can read more about the meme here.

So for my first book I went right back to the very first page on my TBR list on Goodreads & discovered so many books still waiting for me to read them. These books go back to early 2011 when I first joined Goodreads.

The book that really stood out for me was Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen.

I remember the book being brought to my attention when the film starring Robert Pattinson & Reese Witherspoon was coming out. I am very particular about making sure that I read the book before I see the film so I bought the book on Amazon, added it to my TBR & it has sat there ever since. To this day I still haven't watched the film because I won't watch it until I've read the book.

When I saw that Water For Elephants was one of the World Book Night books for 2015 I chose it as the book I wanted to gift & I was successful with my application. So on April 23rd I will have 18 copies of Water For Elephants to let loose into the world so I really think it is time that I raise it right up my TBR pile & eventually get around to reading it.

About The Book

Orphaned, penniless, Jacob Jankowski jumps a freight train in the dark, and in that instant, transforms his future.
By morning, he's landed a job with the Flying Squadron of the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. By nightfall, he's in love.

In an America made colourless by prohibition and the Depression, the circus is a refuge of sequins and sensuality. But behind the glamour lies a darker world, where both animals and men are dispensable. Where falling in love is the most dangerous act of all...
