It Will Always Be You can be read as a
stand-alone
After surviving four years with a commitment-phobic boyfriend, Elizabeth wants nothing more than to settle down. Too bad the man she desires, Marshall Roderick, leaves her flustered, trembling, and unable to utter a single word when he’s near.
Assuming he’s the very definition of a womanizing bachelor, Elizabeth relegates him to fantasyland and makes no move to get to know him. That is, until a chance encounter along the shores of Lake Superior leads to drinks and a steamy romance.
Confident, successful, and freakishly handsome, Marshall is everything Elizabeth has been looking for. But when an unthinkable act of violence shakes them both to the core, she discovers that Marshall isn’t as carefree and put-together as he led her to believe.
Now it’s up to Marshall and Elizabeth to figure out if their love can heal the scars of the past and turn them into the people they’ve always wanted to be.

My Thoughts
I need to start by saying that It Will Always Be You was such a cute read, the story wasn't quite what I was expecting as I thought there would be more suspense than there was but I still really enjoyed the book.
So we start out with Elizabeth an interior designer who has ended up stuck working in the hotel she did some design work for a few years ago. She's not stuck because she lacks passion or is not very good a what she does, she is stuck because she is scared & lacks the courage to follow her dreams. This character trait is one that we see in Elizabeth when it comes to Marshall, the hot & hunky businessman that stays at the hotel on a regular basis. At work Elizabeth is a calm, cool & professional but whenever Marshall is around she falls to pieces & becomes a quaking wreck. She knows that someone like Marshall could never be interested in someone like her.
And there lies the problem. Elizabeth has spent her entire life living in the shadow of her twin sister Rose. She has always compared herself to Rose & has always felt that she is the inferior one because she is not as beautiful & not as outgoing. Everyone loves Rose. She believes without doubt that someone like Marshall would never look at her in a romantic way & that makes the way she acts around him even worse.
In Elizabeth's eyes Marshall is the perfect man but in fact he is just as flawed as the rest of us which makes for some very interesting & heartfelt scenes between the two. I really liked Elizabeth as a character - she is very 'real' & easy to relate to, I mean who hasn't become all flustered & pathetic around a hot guy. The attraction between the pair was there from the outset & the heat level between the two was just right.
It Will Always Be You is a very simple story about love & trust that is beautifully told and very captivating. There are plenty of twists to keep you interested with a little touch of suspense & mystery thrown in which is always good in my opinion. The story is told all from Elizabeth's point of view but I kind of wished we'd heard more from Marshal as he had such a painful story to share but I understand that this is Tina Ness's intention for book 2 so I will eagerly await
Before There Was You.

Wonderful review, Sam! I really like the sounds of this one and how character driven it sounds overall. Elizabeth sounds like the kind of MC I would click with easily!
